When to book Christmas lights in Grants Pass
The holiday season starts earlier than the weather allows. In Grants Pass, steady rain, short daylight, and a limited number of route days decide how many rooflines can be safely lit before December. This is the calendar we use for bookings, along with what happens when weather moves a date and how the January takedown fits in.
Why the local install window is short
A Christmas light install is ladder work on an exposed roof. In Josephine County, the weather turns before the holidays do. Rain makes shingles slick, morning frost slows a crew, and daylight is gone by late afternoon. We plan around those conditions instead of working through them.
Routing is the second limit. We group jobs by neighborhood so a crew is not driving across the valley for one house. Merlin and Colonial Valley jobs often share a day, while Grants Pass, Redwood, and Fruitdale jobs cluster on other days. Flat pricing depends on that routing, and so does the install date.
The holiday itself is the third limit. Lights that go up on December 10 still come down in January, but they spend less of the season on the house. If the display matters for Thanksgiving, a family gathering, or a storefront open house, work backward from that date and leave room for a weather reschedule.
This is not a countdown designed to rush you. It is the number of safe roof hours in a short local season. Booking earlier gives you more dates to choose from.
Early-bird pricing ends November 7, 2026. Regular pricing starts November 8. Your install can happen after you book, so the date you reserve and the date we install are two different decisions.
A week-by-week planning calendar
The 2026 season has one pricing deadline: book by November 7 for early-bird pricing. After that, regular pricing applies. The install itself can happen later than the booking date.
Late September to mid October
This is the planning window. Confirm the roofline measurement, choose a package, and put both the install and the January takedown on the calendar. Our Grants Pass cost guide shows what each package covers. If you want lights up before Thanksgiving, book in October.
Mid October to November 7
Early-bird installs are running and the early price is still open. Book by November 7 to lock it, even if your install lands later in the month. This is also a practical time to add gutter cleaning, since the crew is already on the ladder. See the gutter cleaning page for what is included.
November 8 to 20
Regular pricing is in effect. You are still ahead of Thanksgiving, and the weather is usually cool but workable. If you missed the early deadline, this is the next window to target.
November 21 to 30
Thanksgiving week and the days after it. Travel, family schedules, and wet weather can all move an install. Keep a backup date in mind and expect a weather check the day before.
December 1 to 15
Late bookings are possible when the route has room and the roof is safe to work on. The display window is shorter, but the install and January takedown are the same scope. Text the address and we will tell you what is open.
After mid December
Call or text before assuming a date. Wind, rain, and short daylight make late installs less predictable. We would rather give you a straight no than rush a roof we cannot safely reach.
Roof shape matters as much as the calendar. A simple one-story front can fit into a tighter window than a two-story roof with steep pitches. For homes on the Merlin Road corridor, the Merlin install page covers the local roof and access notes.
Weather, install day, payment, and takedown
When weather moves the date
We reschedule at no charge for rain, lightning, high wind, wildfire smoke, or a power shutoff. Your price and your slot hold. A wet roof is not worth a shortcut, and a dry day later in the week is almost always better than a rushed install in the rain.
What install day looks like
Clear access to the driveway or street, leave the exterior outlet reachable, and secure pets before the crew arrives. You do not need to be home, but you should be reachable by text. We confirm the roofline, install with removable clips, set the timer, and walk the finished front with you or send photos.
Inspect the work within 48 hours and report anything unusual right away. That window is part of the service terms, not a formality.
What to send with your booking
When you text, include the street address, the date you want the lights up, and any access notes: gate code, long driveway, dogs, or a shop building you want included. A photo of the front of the house helps if trees block the satellite view. If you are booking for a rental or a family member, confirm who will be there on install day and where the exterior outlet is.
Deposit and balance
A 50 percent deposit reserves the date and orders the custom materials. The balance is due when the install is complete. If you cancel before materials are ordered or cut, the deposit is refunded. Once the strands are cut for your roof, the deposit covers those materials. The full policy is in the service terms.
Takedown and planning around your holiday
The January takedown is scheduled when we confirm the install, not in a separate January phone call. That gives you two dates from the start and keeps the lights from sitting on the roofline into spring.
Takedown includes removing the clips, taking down the strands, packing the lights, timer, and cords into the labeled storage box, and checking the roofline as we go. If something looks wrong, we report it. The lights are yours, and there is no rental or storage fee.
For a Thanksgiving display, aim for early or mid November. For a December event, leave at least a week between the planned install and the event so a rain day does not put you in a rush. If you are comparing installers, use the questions in our installer selection guide. If you already own lights, the cost guide explains labor-only pricing.

Booking questions
When should I book Christmas light installation in Grants Pass?
Book by November 7 to lock early-bird pricing. If you want the lights up before Thanksgiving, book in October. Regular pricing starts November 8, and later dates depend on the route and the weather.
Is it too late to book in December?
Sometimes we can still fit a December install if the roof is safe and the route has room. The display window is shorter, but the January takedown is still included. Text your address and we will tell you what is open.
What happens if it rains on my install day?
We reschedule at no charge for rain, lightning, high wind, wildfire smoke, or a power shutoff. Your price and your slot stay the same.
Do I need to be home for the install?
No. Clear access, leave the exterior outlet reachable, and secure pets. We will text before arrival and send photos or walk the front with you when the install is done.
When is the January takedown scheduled?
We schedule the takedown when we confirm your install, so both dates are on the calendar from the start. Takedown includes the clips, lights, timer, cords, and packing everything into your storage box.
Can I add gutter cleaning when I book lights?
Yes. Gutter cleaning is $129 with a light package and $199 on its own. Add it at booking or ask when we confirm your install. Moss removal is a $99 add-on with lights.
Get your install date on the calendar
Text your address and the date you have in mind. We will confirm the roofline, the price, and the next open install window. If you already know you want a January takedown date, say so and we will hold both.
